Cupcakes for a Cause! Help Kids Affected By Cancer

SIXTH ANNUAL CUPCAKES FOR A CAUSE™:CAKE FETISH and other leading bakeries from across the country will participate in the sixth annual Cupcakes for a Cause ™. A program designed to provide free, professional support services for children affected by cancer. September is also Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.

A SWEET WAY TO HELP KIDS AFFECTED BY CANCER

More than 300 bakeries nationwide sell cupcakes in support of the non-profit organization CancerCare™. Last year's event raised more that $120,000 for CancerCare for Kids.

CAKE FETISH will feature select signature flavors and specially decorated cupcakes, such as Velvet Elvis, Very Vanilla & The Devil Made Me Do It, with a portion of the proceeds being donated to benefit CancerCare for Kids®. This is the fourth year Cake Fetish is involved in Cupcakes for a Cause ™.

"As always, we are proud to be a part of such a worthy cause. Each year the response gets better and we can provide more support for kids in the battle for there life or the life of a loved one," says Caryn Koerner, owner at Cake Fetish.

To sweeten an already sweet deal, this year 1-800-FLOWERS.COM has donated $20 gift cards to participating bakeries. The gift cards will be given to the first 100 customers to make a minimum $10 purchase during what is being called Cupcakes Week.

The CancerCare for Kids® program provides free, professional support services to nearly 1,500 children and their families who are affected by cancer each year. The programs include counseling, childcare and transportation reimbursement for the families of children battling cancer in Albuquerque and New Mexico.

"Cupcakes for a Cause ™ is a great way to have a sweet treat while helping children affected by this devastating illness," said Diane Blum, executive director of CancerCare. "Children diagnosed with cancer, and those who have a parent or sibling with cancer, face very difficult emotional questions and concerns that most kids their age don't have. Our oncology-trained social workers help children understand cancer, talk about their feelings and become less afraid of the disease."

Cupcakes for a Cause™ will be supported at both Cake Fetish locations, the Uptown location at Louisiana and Menaul and on the Westside at Coors and Montano. Both stores will all have the same great flavors dedicated to CancerCare for Kids®
